A whole lot cheaper than the Lenovo product. No software to install. Cross platform. True hardware encryption.

Do any of you have any idea what brand of hdd is in this thing? I haven't been able to find the info anywhere. I'm thinking of getting one anyway. It's a great way to transport client data and other special data.

I'm definitely getting one for the reasons you mentioned above and because it looks mean. I read some pretty positive reviews on it but no mention of the brand of hard drive. I would assume they would go with one of the industry leaders but I guess you never know.

Newegg lists six manufacturers with 500GB, 8MB Cache, 5400RPM, 2.5" form factor drives. Toshiba, Hitachi, Samsung, Seagate, Western Digital, Fujitsu. Could be any one of them.
