I have a client whom has a Power Mac 6100 that has a broken monitor
she wants to get some old files off of this system to transfer to a
Dell PC ...

I bought her a 45pin to 15pin monitor adapter so she can just use
her PC monitor to view her files

the trouble I am coming across with is how to transfer files from
an old mac to a newer PC

I had found an Asante FriendlyNet AAUI RJ-45 transceiver - Mac that
has both bnc and rj-45 adapters on the end so I should be able to
connect it to a network router I am hoping ... but is there anything
else I need like maybe software to communicate from pc to mac?

I am mainly a PC guy I have very little knowledge about Mac's

anything simple will do
thanx for your time

I am supposed to be going over there tomorrow to help get her system up
and running so she can at least view her files I told her we were going to
worry about how to transfer them after that ... so I am going to have to
find that out tomorrow...

the system was built in 1994/95 and I guess she hasn't used it in years
she dropped the monitor and it broke ....

I will try to find that out tomorrow

--- edit ---
I just did a quick call and she mentions that she found some system 7 books
that go with the macintosh system

Also, what formats are her files in? I use mac drive to do this usually or a linux machine. The biggest problems I have run into are older office files. Sometimes, they need to be converted, and it's not always a successful process.

I ended up bringing the system home since her flat panel monitor
would not see the system but one of my older CRT monitors would

this system only had a floppy drive so I ended up copying and moving
them over to a linux box which openoffice would see every file and
then burned a cd ..

it was a lot easier than I thought it would be I just have to find out
if her microsoft office will be able to see everything
