I haven’t had the opportunity to do much remote support, save one Crossloop session to help with a windows update problem and one Teamviewer session to change some router settings.
My question is how do you guys access the usual tools to rid a system of malware (malwarebytes, Superantispyware, etc.) if it is not already installed on the customers computer? Do you download and install the software from traditional sites? Do you download it from a personal server? Do you transfer the .exe from your compy to the customer’s through the remote software?
Any insight would be appreciated.

Hey WDHIII,
i use crossloop when i have to remote into clients computers, Its simple to use and set-up, plus the connection/downloading speeds are really good for transfering files.
When it comes to viruses and malware removal, i will only use my own tools. This is because i know they work, and they aren't infected.
I dont download virus/malware tools on a clients machine from the internet, as there is a chance that you could infect there machine and make matters worse.
I personally transfer my tools from my pc to the clients machine. I find this to be the easiest and safest method.
A mate of mine put all his tools on his tech website. So when he remotes into his clients machine, he simply visits his website and downloads them to the clients machine.

Use Ketarin to keep a directory up to date with all your tools you want. Have it run every night or once a week (or whatever else you choose.) Use task scheduler or any other scheduling software you want. Have it run in a batch file, dont run ketarin with its command line options from the task schedule. In the batch file once its done have it zip up the directory. Once its zipped have the batch file kick off any ftp tool you want, many support commandline options. To use the built in windows one try this article (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows/how-to-automate-ftp-uploads-from-the-windows-command-line/). Make it delete your current one, and upload your new one. Now you can just download that file whenever you need it and it will be up to date.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the information. I have been using Ketarin to keep my USB drive up to date. I will have to look into using it on my server.
