Need some help identifing a cable.

I am trying to help someone find a replacement cable on another forum. I am at a loss on this one! It looks like a regular DB9 to USB cable, except on the 'DB9' side it has 11 pins instead of 9. The pins are in 2 rows, just like a DB9.

Any ideas on what this plug is called?

I have never seen a serial 11-pin D connector and and can not even think where such a device may be used. First, I would ask your friend to complete a pin-to pin test and record if every pin is a direct connection. Null-mode serial cables have pins 2 & 3 reversed where a straight serial cable is a direct connection. This must be a custom made type of cable which was intended for a very specific situation. Could you find out where this cabler is used and who makes the cable?

They are telling me it looks like a DB9 to USB cable, but the DB9 end has 11 pins. Glad to know I am not crazy, because I have not heard of it either.

I have recently been trying to help some people on another forum with hardware issues, and it is a great way, in my opinion, to polish up your skills! Makes you go back to the 'is it plugged in mentality'. The simple solution is almost aways the problem.

Eric, I used my magnifying glass on that image, and I only counted 9 pins and do not see 11. Are you sure it is 11 pins??:confused:

I don't have access to the plug. It is someone on the interweb. I thought it was a DB9. It may be a standard one, or some custom pinout job. Don't know.
