I am hoping someone will be able to help me with this issue. This afternoon I was transfering some files from C drive to G drive. The files were mostly video files and there was no chance of any virus/trojan infection as theses files were on this drive for about two weeks. Well, tonight I am getting a message that G drive is not formatted (NTFS formatted when installed) and can no longer access the drive. I've tried several tricks to gain access but without too much luck. The last thing I wish is to format as there are some rare videos which I do not wish to lose. If anyone has any ideas, I would be very greatful, because it has taken me two years to compile these files. Thanks.

Hmmm, It sounds like the partition info for the G drive is corrupt. Luckily, chances are that your information is still safely on it and can be recovered with a file recovery tool.
Try these:
PC INSPECTOR
http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/UK/welcome.htm
File Recovery is a data recovery program that supports the FAT 12/16/32 and NTFS file systems. The current version 3.x replaces the previous version 2.x, which is now over 6 years old.
Restoration
http://hccweb1.bai.ne.jp/~hcj58401/REST2514.EXE (http://hccweb1.bai.ne.jp/%7Ehcj58401/REST2514.EXE)
For 9x/NT/2K/XP. Restore deleted files that are no longer in the Recycle Bin!
Tool to check and undelete partition
Works with the following partitions:
- FAT12 FAT16 FAT32
- Linux
- Linux SWAP (version 1 and 2)
- NTFS (Windows NT)
- BeFS (BeOS)
- UFS (BSD)
- Netware
- RaiserFS

Knuckles. I had tried all versions of recovery software without any success. It turns out that the logic drive board has a burnt capacitor and is done. My next decision is how to work out on a replacement board, because I have to be able to recover my data on that drive. Any ideas??

I've been there!!, just look on ebay for the exact same drive and swap the board over.
Make sure the model number is exact and also ask them to identify the board properly otherwise you may see some smoke when you plug the power in.
It's worked fine for me a couple of times :)

Thanks Andy, will start looking on fleabay.
NOTE: After some searching I have found a clone drive on ebay and have ordered the drive. Now, we'll just have to wait and see how the transplant works out. I have my fingers crossed.
