Hey, I am working on an Acer Aspire 5100 for my wife and have recieved the legendary blue screen of death. I get the error codes 0x00000000, 0xc0000001, 0x0010037c, and 0xc00000e9. I have tried the Windows recovery disk, and I get the blue screen after loading files, I have tried safemode, last known good configuration, low video res., etc. Could someone point me in the right direction. this is my wife's school laptop and at the very least need to hopefully recover some of her files, as she said she made no attempt to make any backups.
Thanks

Ok, I thought the forums said it was for professionals or people working towards that area. My bad if I read it wrong

If we're talking XP and Vista, there are a few things you need to keep in mind when dealing with a BSOD:
1) BSODs often show an error message as the second paragraph in all caps and with underscores instead of spaces.
2) Look for a filename on the BSOD. That's a file related to the problem.
3) Google is your friend. Use it. ;) There are tons of websites out there that go over stop codes and how to deal with BSODs. That's going to be your best bet for learning how to troubleshoot them.
I hope that at least points you in the right direction for learning how to diagnose BSOD problems.

Did you try the built-in recovery partition?. Most aspires offer a F11 at boot time to go into recovery, see if yours does.
BTW- You did look up the hex codes, right ?
