Hi there km27alay
Welcome to Technibble
We will need a lil' more information to be able to help you out.
Are there any error messages on the screen? Has anything changed recently i.e. new software installed, hardware replaced?
Do you have uptodate Antivirus software installed?
If could provide some more information we will be glad to be of assistance!
:)

Alright, it sounds like you aren't getting what we call a "Blue Screen of Death", but the standard Windows background instead. It sounds like explorer.exe isnt loading correctly so your start menu, background and icons never appear. To test this, once you hit this blank screen again. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL all at the same time to bring up "Windows Task Manager". Then goto File > New Task (Run) and type in: explorer.exe
Do you get your desktop back when you do that?
Next, goto the Task Manager again and then File > New Task again and type: sfc /scannow
and have your Windows CD handy. This command will run a tool which will scan your Windows files for any signs of corruption preventing your computer from loading correctly. This process may take a while.
When it finishes, reboot and let us know how it went.
