Thanks for the update

07-28-2009, 02:59 PM
Thanks for the link. I have added these tools to the tool kit i already had.

07-28-2009, 05:04 PM
I would like to add one of my own programs for example "ImgBurn" but it is a zip file, how can I program that it should extract itself and go in to the computer repair folder, do I have to Edit some file or what?

thank you,

07-29-2009, 08:01 PM
my next version im going to include imgburn , ive already got it on my list
7zip actually supports extracting it from the setup.exe and then you need to start imgburn with the the portable options

ImgBurn.exe /PORTABLE /SETTINGS ImgBurn.ini

07-29-2009, 09:18 PM
only if i can raise them in my shop

Good work, parnter, but I'll mention a few issues I've seen. One, (not your fault), may want to avoid the RiData EZdrives with the physical write protect switch. Worst $20 I think I've ever spent. Switch is so small, it takes a mechanical pencil tip to set it. Further (more important to you), its write speeds are the worst I've ever seen from ANY thumb drive. It's like your working on a slow, spyware-infested system using it! Unless that's the general behavior of your software package. Slow goings, for sure.

Two, I'm testing Prevx 3.0, and it may or may not "like" the files on this thumb drive (the "Toolkit" itself). I turned it off, but it was still slow to start or use any of said programs, and prior to shutting it (Prevx) down, it flagged a few items (inc. Combofix) as virus/spyware laden---which of course we know aren't.

Just wanted to mention these things. I'm disappointed enough in this thumb drive that I'm probably going to hold on to it, wait for a moment where I'm really pissed off, then throw it against my basement wall to watch it explode! It's really that damn slow. I'm pretty sure it's the drive itself. Sled-like.

What I might do instead is update your Toolkit on occasion, then burn to CD. That way I can use it to destroy stuff without having to worry about infecting any thumb drives.

Wish someone could recommend a fast-writing thumb drive with a write-protect switch. I thought about encryption, but don't know if you could do that every time before you write to said thumb drive.

07-30-2009, 02:57 PM
then you need to start imgburn with the the portable options

ImgBurn.exe /PORTABLE /SETTINGS ImgBurn.ini

Can you please explain a bit better what you me+n by this? surry,

07-30-2009, 06:12 PM
ImgBurn.exe /PORTABLE /SETTINGS ImgBurn.ini
is the commandline parameters to start imgburn in portable mode so it doesnt write to the registry

First time tryin' this; thought it was about time I upgraded my toolkit. Haven't since I downloaded the Technibble one; and I was probably one of the last to download it ( got pulled a week after i joined ) Good job, looks really useful and a timesaver !

Ketarin has almost finished downloadin' all the apps. But there are a few it didn't download ( theres a red x next to them )

Fab's AutoBackup
Network Scanner
Opera Backup
TrID Defs
UnDelete Plus
Unknown Devices
Unstoppable Copier
XP AntiSpy

Now that Ketarin has finished; and I've loaded up PStart .. The following apps will not run ...

Restoration MFC Application
OutLook Finder
Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool
Unknown Devices
Network Scanner Application
Portable Vidalia Bundle
Ultimate Windows Tweaker

A couple of them I mentioned from the last post as not downloadin' so of course they won't work. I'm goin to leave my toolkit as is at the moment; so if you have any questions I can help you out with fixing the problems. I'm suprised no-one else has mentioned them; unless its just my end ..

I'm goin' to run Ketarin again; and I'll edit this post to see if theres a difference..

Now that Ketarin has finished; and I've loaded up PStart .. The following apps will not run ...I recently downloaded and installed Tech Toolkit 2.0 and couldn't get anything to run from the Panel or the PStart menu. (Didn't try every last app, though.) I could browse to the files and run them, but not from the menu links. Using Vista Home Basic but same result using XP. I extracted the contents of the zip to the root of the USB flash drive, as directed.

Anybody else having this problem?

PS - Also had several apps that wouldn't download, but just updated the links and they update okay.

Edit: Just fixed it after noticing that the links all pointed to folders at the root of the USB flash drive, not the Computer-Repair folder in which they were created.

It seems that Unstoppable Copier link has updated..

Unknown Devices is also not working as well..

08-11-2009, 03:16 AM
Well I was in the middle of replyin' last night; when my battery went flat lol ..
I wasn't gettin' out of bed in a hurry to get my charger; so I'll copy and paste what was meant to be my post last night ..

And it turns out none of them are your fault .. They just don't work .. Lol even goin' thru the homepages.

I see the Unknown Devices app is the one created by Halfdone; and hasn't been updated since mid-July '07. What about switching it to the one from Huntersoft at this link here (http://www.zhangduo.com/unknowndeviceidentifier.html). With the download link at the bottom of the page.

What about adding apps that are installed frequently after a N&P?
Like adobe flash/shockwave/air ... audio/video codecs etc .. just a thought..

08-11-2009, 03:27 AM
sometimes ketarin freezes when unzipping some thing so if they didnt download the first time try to re-dl them

im working on an updated version soon

08-11-2009, 04:45 AM
Whats on your 'To-Do' list for the next version ?

Let me know if you need some help in anyway . I have a few scripts that you might like to add into it .. and for your Vista SP1 Cleanup batch file.. use this one instead...

REM --- Ask user if they want to run MS Vista Cleanup Tool ---
CHOICE.EXE /C:YN /M "Do you want to run the Microsoft Vista Service Pack CleanUp Tool?"
REM --- Determine's what Service Pack you have installed ---
REM --- And calls the appropriate Service Pack Cleanup Tool ---
if exist vsp1cln.exe (call vsp1cln.exe)
if exist compcln.exe (call compcln.exe)
echo Done!

vsp1cln.exe is for SP1
compcln.exe is for SP2.

Did any of you has this error when open Ketarin.exe ....(The application failed to initialize properly(0xc0000135)Click ok to terminate the application.
I follow the instructions and still the same message

08-19-2009, 11:37 AM
A quick Google (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=ketarin+0xc0000135) search found that the first thing to check for would be your .NET version ?

Possibly run a Windows Update, reboot and try again.

08-20-2009, 06:21 AM
im gonna actually redo the folder name that it downloads into
and use a variable like {target} so if anyone wants a different folder name they can

but this might break the pstart if someone doesnt know what they are doing

i think i might include universal extractor for some of those programs whose msi's and installs make them not portable

im gonna add some more rootkit detectors
and probably an option to download regular installs like firefox, avira, vlc, etc
so tech dont have to worry about slow 'net connections when at clients house

Sounds good AtYourService ! Can't wait for your next release, love your app and thank you for the time and effort you've put into it..

Can I add some suggestions for next release ? Well I don't care if you say no, you don't have to read them :P

+ Take advantage of the 'sort' feature in PStart :P~ Things look alot tidier
+ Add a 'Removal Tools' sub-category in PStart for all the A/V Removal tools etc
+ Add NirSoft's applications to the list
+ Add PureRa, EasyCleaner 2.0
+ FreshDiagnose can be made to be portable; so can DriveImageXML =)
+ Add DriverMax Portable into the mix ( put it into the download itself; there is no official portable version of DriverMax, but there is an excellent DriverMax v4.7 Portable out there ;) I use it religiously
+Is there a way to get the latest list of winapp2.ini for CCleaner ? ( google it if u haven't heard of it )
+ Add ATF-Cleaner
+ Change the connection timeout to @ least 30 sec instead of 10 sec. Maybe even a minute. And retries maybe 2 or 3 instead of 1.
+ In PStart you can add captions/description below each entry. Maybe give a 'very brief description of what each tool does like the TN Toolkit that Bryce released.
+ Add Flash Disinfector, SmitFraudFix, Magical JellyBean KeyFinder
+ Anyway to get the latest DriverPacks ?
+ Anyway to get the Windows Update files stored locally ? With an app to do what exactly Windows Update does ? ( installs files from local stored instead of redownloading them; check what files are installed, and which ones need to be installed ((critical)) and then the optional ones )
+ Microsoft PowerToys ? TweakUI especially
+ SysInternals apps ?

Thats my list so far =) Awesome work AtYourService !!!

I really appreciate your work, it helps a lot, I would suggest for the next version, to be more backup tools, and imaging software,

thank you.

if you have time to find the best download urls for these apps
you can post them here and ill start adding them
most of my time is consumed by finding the best download link since some sites have them hosted on places like sourceforge etc and getting the download link is a pain

Have you guys been over to the Ketarin Forum?

These seem to be of particular interest when dealing with the URL for the toolkit.

"UpdateStar.com Template [test] by FranciscoR"

"CybTekSol's Firefox Add-Ons Template (Inspired_by_Stalker) by CybTekSol"

"CybTekSol's LifeHacker.com Exclusive Downloads Generic template: by CybTekSol"

Do you have an ETA on when the next version will be out? Also, is it possible to remove some things without causing problems or errors?

I was thinking of doing it this way, remove it from the applications list, then removing it from Ketarin and then deleting the file and it's folder from the USB Drive. Would that be a good way to do it, or would that cause problems?

01-06-2010, 12:18 AM

Is it possible to create additional categories?

I would like to add "Utilities" to download apps like;
Firefox, Thunderbird, OpenOffice, ImgBurn, Skype, Flash, acrobat reader, 7z, Filezilla, Java, VLC, UltraVnc and other useful free or open source apps that my clients might like installed on their systems.

and "XP SlipStream" to download winAddons, driver and update packs for slipstreaming.

01-06-2010, 12:24 AM
Never mind!

I figured out that you can just type in a new category in the category text field.

You really need to go and download the following:

windows Updates Downloader (http://www.windowsupdatesdownloader.com/)

Then, integrate them into your nLite iso image (http://nliteos.com/)

Of course, you can keep the downloads ready for deployment too either by hand or by WSUS..

IMHO, keep the the utilities a utility kit..

Although have not nearly the skills of many on this forum, I have been working on the techtoolkit for a few days now, updating and correcting the download links and adding some tools that have been winners in the past 6 months.

And it looks like ComboFix is back online and available.

I might need some help tightening up the project before I release it to the TN masses. Anyone want to lend a hand with the Ketarin variables?

01-27-2010, 11:32 PM
I don't know if its much help but here's my current ketarin list:

I don't know if its much help but here's my current ketarin list:

Importing this XML file to Ketarin doesn't work, I get an error. It's of a different format, it looks like.

I think a great feature would be to integrate a FTP option, whereby we could configure some FTP settings in a small gui or even in a text file, use a command line to upload programs to FTP afterward. That way we could have access to some of our tools with or without the flash drive.

Theres a tiny program called FTPSync which I just found that looks very promising. cyberkiko.com/page/FTPSync.aspx

So you could sync two folders and we could chose to exclude large files somehow with parameters (like 50mb AV update or w.e).

01-28-2010, 10:38 PM
I think i may have uploaded the wrong type.

Also i have the ketarin folder in a different location to most so that may be affecting people as well.

In regards to the ftp suggestion, i do something like this with my keepass database and key. I have the portable version and i have a couple of basic batch scripts to upload and download the lot to my ftp server. I have the basic set stored on email so if i am ever somewhere without my keepass memory stick, i can logon to email, download my scripts and then update the installation with the latest password database from my ftp server. :)
