Does anyone know how to install Joomla on 2008 Server? I'm running into trouble and need an experienced person to help with install.

PHP on Windows can be a hassle. What's the problem?

Thanks for replying. Here is my configuration.
Joomla 1.5.12
MySQL 5.0.83
PHP 5.3.0
Windows Small Business Server 2008 Enterprise x64
When I run the "configure the MySQL Server 5.0 server instance"
this is what I get. The service will not start. Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

Is this your first attempt at Joomla on a Windows machine (any version)?. If so then this might have nothing to do with Joomla and W2k8.
It sounds like you cannot start Mysql 5.x as a service, not that Joomla wont work. Joomla is not a service or app, its a PHP based bunch of pages and scripts that provide a CMS.
Why did you come here for Joomla/W2k8/PHP support, wouldnt it make more sense to go to the Joomla site. You might find a small group of people here with Joomla experience and probably NONE with Joomla/W2k8 use.

What shows up in event viewer?
What does manually starting the service from Services do?

See if this helps. Read the comments, others have had similar experience.

@ NYJimbo
I realize that Joomla is not a service. It is however the goal to have Joomla running. So I must have PHP and MySQL working before I have Joomla running. When I said I couldn't get MySQL service to start, that means it is keeping me from getting to the next step in order to get Joomla running. I have been to the Joomla support site and many other support sites. I have been working on this issue for about three weeks. I am asking my Joomla question here because I wanted too. I'm sure someone here has more experience with this that I do. If you have a problem with the question being asked then please walk away and let someone else have a crack at it. I see no problem with asking this type of question on Technibble. Between helping new computer business owners and aspiring computer business owner get there feet off the ground, we help each other with many different computer support issues.
@ TazUK
The event viewer doesn't shed any light on the problem. I have tried starting the service manually and I also tried changing the permissions on the service. I have uninstalled everything and reinstalled three times and still get the same error.
@ Rusty
Thanks, I have seen this and used it but still get the same error. Netometor.com has provided the best support for this so far but has not been able to help me resolve this error.

Had the same “service wont run” issue.
I can confirm that deleting the MySQL service and running the final steps of installing MySQL Server again works :)
not sure if that'll help, it's what i found after a little bit of googling on the issue, i myself have no experience of joomla on 2008 at all.

Thanks
I have tried that a few times. I have some new information from netometer that I'm going to try this week. Hope it does the trick.

What?????? Who's acting like it's a Joomla issue? It's a MySQL issue! But the question is for people that have installed Joomla on 2008 server cause they have the sense to know Joomla doesn't run without PHP and MySQL.
Geees, adults only please!

Found this for 4.1, but it's probably similar for later releases.

Start Service
The Wizard installs the Windows service and tries to start up the MySQL server for the first time. If the server startup fails, you can find error logs in the data directory (C:\Program Files\MySQL\data\*.err). You can modify the configuration file according to the error message. But please note that this should not occur. If this is a common problem, perhaps it's a bug. Have you tried an older version of MySQL?

@ Rusty
It does seem that many others have run into this issue. Although no one has posted any fixes or work arounds. I have tried a few other versions but will try some more.
Thanks
