I, Win9x, because it's stable and don't give me problems when I don't need them. I want to try other like Macintosh and Linux, those could be probably better than windows.

Which one are you using?

If you want to try MacOS you should buy Mac to run it on, there is a PC version, but it's nothing compared to the real thing(friend tried it and compared it).

At home dualboot win2k & slackware10.2 on my machine
At work/university win2k & winXP on desktops, slackware10.2 & debian on servers

Few of my Linux hardcore friends bought Mac's and now play with MacOS also.

Well, now it's possible to run Windows XP natively on the Intel Macs. When I do get a Mactel, that will definitely be on my to do list. By then, hopefully complete drivers will be engineered.

I have been trying to install ubuntu on a virtual machine with no luck. How do i go about doing this?

07-19-2007, 03:35 PM
XP Home becuase I just can't see a reason to spend money on XP Pro for this Laptop. XP Media Center on the other box becuase its cheap and XP and it is a media center. My old system was a Win 2k Pro priated copy becuase I was in HS when I built it the parts set me back enough. The other system I built around the same time is a Win 98 SE becuase it was simple and good at the time but they need to replace that PC now.

gunslinger: it should just install? You boot to the cd and run the installer. It fully supports vmware so try that?

Just a quick question. I am currently using Windows XP Pro on all my PCs and laptops.

I am interested in Linux Ubuntu. I was told that I would have to do a complete reinstall of Windows and then install Linux. Is that true. I really hate  reinstalling Windows. Can someone help with the information. Thanks

windows xp and ubuntu. afraid to try vista!

nothing to be afraid of, just put it on a virtual machine and play with it. The only real problem i have found with vista is the lack of software that actually works with it.

I was the same. I recently installed it on my Media PC for its Media Center abilities. Im actually beginning to like Vista alot. However, I am probably going to wait a bit until the programs catch up. On its own, its a pretty nice OS.
