Has anybody else tried this?

It's a Xandros variant that you install from within Windows and is built for boot speed.

It really comes up fast.

It's 20 bucks, which I can live with, but they seem to want more $$ once it is running - like an app store.

I've tried wubi/xbuntu and a couple of others, but nothing I've found boots so quickly, which is very handy on site.

Any recommendations?

I'm sure ACG has used this and can give you a better recommendation than I can. For a fast boot up and minimal footprint, have you tried damn small linux http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/? This seems to be the best bet for you.

Plus, it works inside of windows, win win.

I didn't know that. I've never personally used it, but I'm going to give it a shot now.

xandros is what a lot of the netbooks are running i believe

Whats awesome is that if you give microsoft 50 dollars, they wont sue you.
