View Full Version : On demand scanning

I don't run a resident scanner on my computer. Too many times things disappear, strange lock-ups etc. etc. I finally got Kaspersky 2009 just to sit there and do nothing unless I requested a scan.

Like many other programs, it changed the settings when I upgraded. 2010 grabbed my network connections and no matter how much I thought I turned off it kept running and getting in the way. I uninstalled it.

Have had other programs pull a Lazarus when I updated. e.g. I've turned of the MS Firewall many times. AVG can also rise from the ashes.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a docile on demand scanner that knows its place and has no ambitions?

ClamWin only does on-demand.

Second vote for ClamWin or you could try NOD32 with the resident shield turned off.
