How hard is it to replace a MOBO on a mac laptop? Have a customer that called looking to see if I could replace it. I would assume it's the same as replacing other MOBO but is there a place to get instructions for macs on how to do it?

It would help if you give some specs. ibook, Powerbook, Macbook, Macbook Pro? Serial # would be even better. As far as guides are concerned there is:
ifixit http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/
powerbook medic http://www.powerbookmedic.com/Take-Apart-Repair-Manuals-p-1-c-258.html
Never had to use them because I've always had the guides directly from Apple if I need them, but have browsed through them and they seem fairly close to accurate.

Don't know yet, this was just an email request for service, wanted to see how difficult it would be before I submit that I would do it.

Many thanks for these links. In general I tend to not service Macs but figured for hardware issues, there is no real reason for me not to as they are generally the same. I've been meaning to look into guides but never dedicated any time to it, so again, thanks for the links.

You're welcome. Glad I could help.:D There is no reason not to service Macs. Really hardware is hardware in most cases. Plus those two sites are great for Apple laptop parts. Plus HDs, optical drives, and RAM you can get anywhere. Plus you can always turn here to the forums for help.

Macbook Pros are pretty straightforward. If it was a 12" powerbook G4 I would tell you to run far away! Basically remove the top case/optical drive/RAM/fans and your home free. Watch the sensor connections. They lift straight up as opposed to pulling them out like normal connectors. Just pop them up gently with a nylon probe tool.
