Hi all, i am not very familiar with mac. i only know a few things. i have a customer (who is a friend of mine) whose mac is not working correctly. the OS is not loading. he wants to back up his data from the hard drive. i was thinking of taking the hard drive and connect it to another mac but i do not have any mac computer in my shop.
is there a way i can connect the hard drive using enclosure into my pc and backup the data from there?
do you guys know any other way to backup taking in consideration the mac is not loading the os

An option for a thorough backup or clone without having another Mac present, you will need the OSX installers that came with the machine and an external HD enclosure for the HD you want to backup to, or else an external HD.
If you boot the mac to the installer using the C key at startup, at the top left after choosing your language->go to utilities/disk utility. Make sure the HD you are backing up to is formatted as Mac OS extended (journaled) <- should be default selection under the erase button. After you've done that click on the drive you want to back up (if mounted?) and under the First Aid button hit the repair disk button at the bottom right to do a check on the drive. After thats completed just above that select->New Image. Give it a name and choose the backup HD as the destination and let it rip.
