cool. Yeah I started getting into Windows at 3.11 as well. I thinks that is when it got popular.

Yeah, Windows 3.11 was pretty much the standard at the time. I got my 3.11 late in its lifetime as Win 95 was just around the corner. Before 3.11 I was using AmigaDOS on my ol' Amiga 500... which had 512k Ram upgrade! Woo!

My Grandfather did Computer repair for the US Government so he always got us the most up to date software. I don't remember what year it was but we had a Tandy and it took all that thing had to run Windows 3.11.

for those who don't know what a Tandy is: it was a brand of computers put out buy Radio Shack that was basically and IBM compatible but you could not use IBM compatible hardware on it you had to buy Tandy Hardware. I don't remember much about our Tandy other than I think it had a 40Mb Hard drive and about 640k of RAM.

I still miss 3.1 even though most applications ran better in DOS then they would in windows.

Ahh the good old days. I had a Tandy Color Computer when I was a kid (yep, I am getting old!) My first windows computer was a screaming fast 75MHz computer with windows 3.1 and a free upgrade to win 95! Now that took about a day for format and reinstall! It was kinda cool, you could format your C drive from windows. Although I sure that was not too cool for some inquisitive souls out there!

Install DOS, install 3.11, upgrade to win 95. Yep that was a chore.

Interesting link Knuckles10.
