View Full Version : Logon unsuccessful Vista to XP
05-31-2009, 04:03 AM
After installing Windows Vista SP2 I started having trouble accessing my other computer (Windows XP), well I'm not 100% sure it was due to the SP2 but it was the only major thing I did before it started happening, but with the help of everyone best friend (not the dog), google, I found how to fix it.
The error was logon unsuccessful when trying to access a shared folder in a windows xp computer from a vista computer.
And the fix can be found here. (http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/83931-workgroup-password.html)

What kind of connection you have between these computers if it is P2P then the problem might be due to the different versions of windows I was also having the same problem not able to log on to the other computer having xp sp2 from xp sp1 this can the problem.

I'm having the same trouble. I'm using a linksys router, with 3 PC's on the network. Two are running XP, and have no trouble seeing each other and accessing each other's files. My laptop, however, is running Vista, and can't actually access the files on either of the XP machines, although I can see the files. It's been driving me nuts.
