Got a computer in a few days ago with viruses. It had a rootkit and a few other infections. I could have easily nuked and paved it (almost did a couple of times) but I didn't, I wanted to try to salvage this for the customer. I spent more time on this machine than I should have but I got it clean and working and sent it back to the customer. I'm thinking to myself "another happy customer." Then I get an email from a coworker. The site called and was pissed because thier computer didn't work right. They couldn't connect to thier ISP and the ISP said it wasn't thier problem. Funny thing is, we sent them a loaner to use while I fixed thiers. They couldn't get the loaner on thier ISP either. I tried to call the site but never got an answer or return call. I was going to tell them to backup their files and I would gladly nuke and pave it.

As a result of this customer, I was asked to write an article about malware for our newsletter, no problem. It needs to be about 200 words, problem. Hell, this post is 200 words. How the hell do I talk about malware and how to protect yourself in 200 words? I can't keep my posts below 200 words.
