I have been on Google for a while trying to find the answer to this one. Sony vio pcg 5316 screen fault, all talk about black screen. This one has a white screen with coloured lines running vertical in the centre of the screen . it’s a dull whit screen with darker bits round the edges. I have connected it to a external monitor and that was fine. Is it the ccfl or inverter, or a new screen. :cool:

Only the LCD itself and the video chipset would cause that excluding something like the cable of course.

I had a Compaq lapotp once which had the cable connector loose (at the bottom of the screen under the hood).
Pushing it in place fixed the problem, but that problem was the result of another tech fixing another problem.
