What industry magazines do you read? Personally I read...

Website Magazine
Information Week
Redmond Channel Partner
Information Security

All of them are through free subscriptions. If you do read them, are they paid or free subscriptions?

I read some SANS newsletters. Not magazines, but that's all I really have time for...

I don't really read computer related mags that often. I have found that by the time its in a magizine its old news. Unrelated mags I read are: Guns and ammo, handguns, tatical knives, musclemag.

Probably the best hardware magazine would have to be maximumpc. That's the only one I've evr consistently read but haven't now in ages. I don't get too many calls for building high end gaming machines.

@TimeCode,

Do you have links for those free magazine subscriptions?

Information Security - http://searchsecurity.techtarget.com/ - Then go to the "Magazine" menu and choose "subscribe/Renew". Website Magazine - comes out 4x per year free. 12 if you pay $45. https://www.websitemagazine.com/scripts/sub/subscribe.aspx
Information Week - http://www.informationweek.com/iwk_subscribe/cnb.jhtml?K=WWNCS
Redmond Channel Partner - I don't see one. I think I got it for getting my SBSC.

As already stated; I find that by the time its printed, its old news lol
Same with buyin' a PC; its obsolete as soon as you walk out the door; because somethin' bigger and better has come out.

I just stick with RSS feeds.. I get a bunch of them a day, and usually takes a good hour to trawl through them

2600 is still around? Earlier today I dialed a phone number that ended 2600 and I thought of the magazine and it's namesake the Atari... I think I might have to check it out again!

Yep still around, just picked up my the latest issue a few weeks ago (it's a quarterly mag)

Also it's named after the 2600Hz tone made famous by Captain Crunch (John Drapper) who's named after the cereal that the now famous whistle came inside.

Gah! Bought Web User the other day and, honestly, I believe it's the reason some magazines should have solely electronic editions ... it's a waste paper when it's printed! :D ;)

I like computer shopper. Ok it may be out of date in real day terms, as all computer magazines are, but the difference is they gave some really good articles on the infrastructure of computers. How ATM machines network etc.

Security issues. etc.

I used to read computer shopper but with college I didn't read most of them that they sent and because it was costing me money I stopped it but a lot of magazines offer the first issues for about 1 or 3.

No print magazines. Podcasts are produced daily/weekly and their content is very current.

Twit.tv (Leo Laporte th old scrensavers host) several different podcasts from windows to google to iPad specific broadcasts. They also have a daily show.

Bol.Cnet.com my favorite Cnet podcast. Not as good as it used to be though. Most of the original hosts moved to twit

Yep, every big industry has certain groups you can join who publish their own magazines. These magazines are usually just ads for the latest recycling equipment, some interviews with big scrappers, and a few articles on how to improve, etc.

I still cant beleive that personal computer world went under after all those years Guy Kewney and Martin Banks were leggendary. Worse was their move to transfer all the subsciptions to computeractive mag instead. That leaves just pc pro or its poor relative computer shopper
I think the linux mags are really expensive and short on content like a gnu version of computeractive.

Yeah the last copy of personal computer world was the august 2k9 and it didnt mention any problems. Just renewd subs before going out to bastion again in june and the september issue looked great was later mia! Incisive media wouldnt refund so got stuck with an a tech mag suitable for end users or starting bbqs. eventually got a mini maglite out of it.
