Ive stated before many times im not great w/laptops.

Ive torn them apart put em back together its becoming a whole lot easier now.

I have a laptop right now that starts up then i get all these lines and colors on the screen. The images appear to be frozen, but if i move the screen back and forth they start moving around. I can get the computer to boot, but i have to keep moving the screen back and forth...and the image looks extremely ******.
Also the computer only works when plugged in...battery doesnt charge.

Do i need a new lcd, inverter, backlight...should i throw it against the wall to see if it fixes itself?

The short story is that the design of the laptop does not adequately cool the GPU causing the eventual failure of the BGA solder joints under the GPU chip. You moving the screen probably applies pressure to some of those joints causing you to get 'results' on the screen.

You can try just calling HP and harassing them/giving them a sob story, but I myself have had no luck with that yet.
