Customer brought in his laptop there is no recovery partition but there is an option to make recovery dvd's problem is they made them and lost them.

SO when i go to the recovery manager and select create recovery cd's it says only 1 copy allowed you already have done one.

So how do i go about making them without having to go through hp?.

I find it kind of silly that they don't make allowances for people to loose there recovery dvd's and make new ones.

you can reset the one time limit try here www.coderetard.com/2008/08/12/how-to-reset-hp-pavilion-recovery-cd-one-limit-restriction/

but I doubt it'll work sice the recovery partition is gone, I think it just uses the recovery partition to create the disks

I find it kind of silly that they don't make allowances for people to loose there recovery dvd's and make new ones.

So, if you buy a computer and it comes with recovery discs, should they give you more than one copy in case you lose a set? Throw three recovery disc sets in with every new computer, because you might lose one? Of course not...
Besides, you can make copies of the discs that you've already made, before you lose them. ;)

What I think is silly is that they even have you MAKING the friggin' discs in the first place. I'd rather be charged an extra $10 or whatever on top of the cost of the computer to have them included.

I found a way around restriction find hpcd.sys there will be 2 copies one in windows C:\WINDOWS\SMINST and other in E: rename hpcd.bak on both and you can make another set.

This works for VISTA.
