*waves bye to anime openings, AMVs, and promos*

Google plans to have pay stuff and to not only remove, but to prevent copyrighted material from being uploaded.

I dont think you will lose your anime openings, AMV's and Promos. Its not in Googles style. Remember that they are scanning like every book known to man which publishers are finding out that it is increasing book sales rather than declining them.

The worst that could happen would probably be google putting some sort of charge on their new video service. Though at this point, it seems unlikely.

Youtube already runs google ads, Google is all about providing a free service and they dont mind having copywrite stuff on their servers, they have been doing it with the whole book scanning thing for ages.

For the record, the buyout price was $1.64 Billion USD

A technology designed to detect copyright material could give YouTube a needed dose of legal legitimacy and calm any concerns Google Inc. has about spending $1.65 billion on the Internet video site. But that same technology could hurt YouTube's edgy appeal.

Yep. T_T

***Edits: What edgy appeal? People wanted to see anime, music videos, TV shows all for free...

Hmmm, YouTube went down for a few hours today. Perhaps they were switching the site to Googles servers?

....

....I was on earlier. I noticed some of the anime music videos have been removed for "This video has been removed due to terms of use violation."

I guess it's time to find another site.

Google are going to hold out for as long as possible keeping copyrighted information on YouTube. They know that having these videos is what gives YouTube its edge and they are currently either buying off the companies who want the content removed or Google are playing dirty and SUEING the companies who want the content removed which instantly locks everything for about 6 months for legal reasons.
