i think vbulletin Thanks mod could be very handy allowing everyone to thank everyone for posting such great topics and response i sure know that theres a heap about. i know reputation already exists but im sure few know of it and use it. with thanks you can even tie it into rep.

I'm confused... what is the point? This is a professional forum, not digg with sensational news, we're all here to help one another right? I could be wrong since I don't jump into these kinds of things anyway so correct me if I'm wrong.

professional forum yes indeed but where all here to help each other out in the long run so why not have a system to thank people when they do good or help us out

As far as I know this forum does. That lil' icon to the right of the comment, up the top next to the comment number.. hover mouse over it and it says "Add to *Name's* Rep"

Is that not what you wanted?

Even the FAQ doesn't state what good is this crap? Can I blow up small children? Gives me money in my bank account? Starts a small harem on women for me? Or is it simply bragging rights? If it's the last one then I think it's pointless, the whole point of this forum is giving each other help, and when things work why not just say "Hey you were right, thanks!" Just like people prefer handwritten notes and letters then email, it shows you took the time to appreciate them.

the rep system is great but i find the vbulletin thanks mod very handy aswell but purple minnion does have some valid points.

if i get anything out of this thread maybe more people will be aware of clicking this http://www.technibble.com/forums/images/buttons/reputation.gif icon and giving rep for posts that are handy :)
