I am working on a machine that I cant seem to fix  .
IE 7 works great when used for browsing purposes with no crashes.
however I click on a link from outlook 2003 and it opens with IE 7 there are no problems until I try to close the IE 7 windows that opened. Without fail I get Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime error. The computer is up to date with every update ms offers.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled IE 7 ---problem remains
Found no viruses/malware/adware/spyware
disabled add-ons that were not verified problem remains

Just for the heck of it, after opening a IE7 window from Outlook, close Outlook first and then close IE7 and see if the error happens again.

Could be some kind of hook (file open, memory window, etc). I have seen these things reported on alot of forums so there might be a Office patch you need on that machine.

I tried the office repair that did not fix the issue.

I tried what you said NYJImbo that also did not change the outcome.

I just went through the machine again checking for adware/spyware/viruses and noticed the user had added seekseen.dll and .exe to exclusions. I than googled that only to find out its not a safe file. I than removed seekeen from programs and all traces of it and the problem of ie7 crashing has disappeared.
