hello this is the first time i posted and i love this web site.Anyhow i have this clients computer when i turn it on it comes up with a black screen and says winlogon.exe-bad image the application or dll c:\windows\system32\odbc32.dll is not valid windows image please check against your installation diskette. now i ran chkdsk /r said it fixed errors but didn'twork ,last known didn't work tried safe mode, but has safemode in all corners but black screen i need help with this one anyone , I hope i can fix this without reformatting.:(

hello and thanks for responding to my problem . well this is win xp sp3 and i did system restore with ubcd4win and it sill did not work. i ran virus scanner and malwarebytes and it did not find anything and how do i replace the file.and i can't get to command prompt to do sfc /scannow.

Are you exp with computer service and repair ? As the Above post mentioned you need to use a winxp cd and boot into recovery console and restore the file or you can also do a refresh install of winxp if all else fails - without losing the clients files all it does is reinstall all XP core files

i have a cd xp home sp2 just don't know how to install restore the file i need. and i haven't done a fresh install yet that is my next step.

thank you very much i fixed it with xp cd and all files are in tack i did the 2nd repair and it worked thanks for helping me. look forward to talking to u in the future .
