Ok i have this client with an old XP Home pc, and it will get into a restart cycle. What happens when i restart it it will sometimes not get into windows and restarts right before the login screen comes up. Its stats as far as i remember are 256 mb ram, 1.53 cpu, built in gpu i think it was a 32 mb, PSU is only a 250W. And i'm thinking it might be the PSU since its so small. But i'm also going to run chkdsk and see what that does. Oh yes, another weird thing is i'm able to get into windows fine by using safemode and then restarting. Well its late and that all i can think of a the moment...

I doubt this has anything to do with the size of the PSU. It's old, you say, therefore it has run for years with this PSU. You first need to switch off "Automaticall Restart" on System Failure in System Properties so that you can see the BSOD that's behind the restart.

Ok good idea forgot about that... Well the reason i got the computer from my client was, it was restarting and slow. And as i predicted it had alot of baddies on it so getting those off fixed the slowness. So maybe one of them corrupted windows?

often times some very poorly coded viruses implement fake drivers and services and this can cause bsods. but maybe it is just corruption too.

So you're saying you've already cleaned this system and that afterwards it began this restarting business? If so, then you're probably correct - you've removed some critical file that had a virus attached or something similar. There's still no real way to know until you can actually identify the error.
