In another thread, a problem was solved using the Norton Removal Tool - there's a shock!

Anyway, these removal tools can be quite useful. I'm talking about software specific rather than all purpose like Revo or MyUninstaller.

I can think of the following:

AVG
DotNet
Norton
McAfee
Kaspersky
Adobe
Windows Installer Cleanup

What else is out there?

WIC and NRT are godsends. It scares me to think how many consumer computers have been borked by Norton's horrible "uninstall" process, which takes 45 minutes and then leaves the computer without Internet connectivity or some BS.

I was browsing Lifehacker.com and found an article about AppRemover (http://www.appremover.com/). It successfully found all 4 of my installed security apps. I did not test its removal capabilities, but I can see on some machines where it would be nice to completely remove one or more old antivirus/antimalware programs

They show 4 pages of supported apps that it will remove:

Nice find Patrick B. It worked with no problems on my test machine. It is now part of the tool kit.

For anyone who may have missed it, Bryce's blog has an article from June 17, 2009:
Repair Tool of the Week: Antivirus Removal Tools

http://www.technibble.com/repair-tool-of-the-week-antivirus-removal-tools/#more-3065

It has a list of over a dozen antivirus removal tools. There may be more in the comments of that article.
