If I were you i would get yourself a better package as 1gb a month is a very bad deal

very true... i usually pull more than 1 GB a day. With a cell phone broadband card you could even get 50GB for around 35/40 bucks a month.

The man's neither in the US or the UK but in India. Different market. Broadband is only beginning to penetrate. Here http://www.bwmonitor.com/ is another monitor however I'm unaware of any software that will block futher usage after a certain threshold is reached.

Same here. Most days much more than that.
If I had a cap on my internet I had rather not even have it.
If you have a router you might want to login there first and look around. A lot of models keep track of that, and it'll probably be a much more accurate number than a piece of software that runs on your computer.

And to think people in the US are complaining about Comcasts 250 Gig per month limit. The only thing that bugs me about the limit is you can not purchase more bandwith, they just cut you off. The plan wouldn't be so bad if you could buy up.

Its bad for people that are used to unlimited access.

If it is real important I would buy a compatible router and install the "Tomato Firmware", in that software you can monitor and restrict network wide bandwidth usages

The linksys WRT54GL is compatible with Tomato firmware as are some Buffalo models.

this is why I'm staying with DSL. no bandwidth limits!!!wooohoo!!!. it doesn't matter how many people are on the net in my neighborhood.
and no it's not slower than the local cable company. in fact, at most times of the day my DSL is much faster. that's why my friend dumped the cable company after he seen how much faster my dsl is and doesn't diminish.
