appcompat.txt errors

i am finding that this error is indicitive of an other issue... is this a registry issue where some software is not installed correctly or is this a sp2 issue?

it seems to be very nebulus and hard to pinpoint and i am wondering if anyone has been able to acutally fix this for a certain piece of software or is this just a reformat and hope it fixes...

any help would be appreciated

What are you doing when it happens?

Are you looking at folders with video files in them with thumbnails turned on?
