I have just completed a dual boot setup with Ubuntu and XP Pro and I seem to be running into problems getting xp to run as a virtual machine inside ubuntu.

Anyone has this setup already? Any tips or suggestions to offer?

why do you need a virtual machine of XP if you are running a dual boot pc?

Im new to linux and I want to be able to run both at the same time. This setup will allow me to continue to work with windows while learning linux.

Wouldn't it be a better idea to run a Linux VM inside Windows - especially as you are learning Linux and therefore liable to make mistakes that will lead to downtime?
