Hi all,

Repairing a laptop here and i've done everything I can think of to get the USB ports working.

The laptop is a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro 3505. I've installed the latest USB drivers latest chipset drivers and USB 2.0 drivers and it still does not recognise a basic USB2.0 mouse.

I've also done a fresh re-install of Windows XP Pro and still no luck. Had a google but still not much info regarding my problem.

The device seems to get power but there is no data transfer.

Anyone know how to sort it?

Cheers

I would check the device manager first to see if there is any of those wonderful ! points next to something. If there is do a scan with driver agent or something like that to see if that fixes the problem. Have you tried testing the port with anything besides a mouse? They may just be shot.

try testing some other plug and play device like a USB flash drive. have you installed the drivers for the mouse? also check in device manager any devices that are giving you an ! mark like the wmacquinn said and then look at the details section to find out what it actualy is then get the latest drivers for it.

Are the USB ports that you are trying in the fron of the PC? If so I would try the ports in the back of the computer and iif they work then double check the connections from the front USB to the USB controller on the motherboard.
