Setting Yahoo as my default mail in XP?

I tried Control Panel, Internet Options, Programs, E-mail as described in Yahoo Mail Help. Yahoo was not in my list of choices.


I reinstalled Yahoo Messenger. Still no change


Where did I go wrong?

I'm assuming you mean to set up in Outlook Express.
This is how I do it:
These are the instructions for Outlook Express on a PC:

Open Outlook Express, click [Tools] then select Accounts
Click the [Mail] tab, then click [Add] and select Mail
The wizard will start. Type in your name then click [Next]
Enter your email address (yourname@btopenworld.com or yourname@btinternet.com) then click [Next]
Enter the BT Yahoo! mail server address: mail.btinternet.com then click [Next]
Enter your username and password then click [Next]
Click [Finish]
To complete the account creation process click [Tools] then select Accounts
Click the [Mail] tab, then click [Properties]
Click the My server requires authentication box to place a tick inside. Click [OK]

Repeat the above process for each mail account you want to set up, including sub accounts. Each sub account will have a different email address and password.

If you're having trouble sending email from Outlook Express (or other email software), it may mean you need to switch on SMTP authentication.

If your using Yahoo's free e-mail then you will not get POP access and can only use their web interface to send/receive e-mails.

If your a paying subscriber, you can setup your mail client as detailed above and select the option to make it your default mail client.
