Hi,

I have seen this quite a bit throughout the www, and now it's bugging my workshop.

For some mad reason, I can't access Yahoo and Ebuyer, I am sure there are others but I haven't found them yet.

I have tried all the usual things I can think of, I have gone straight to my cable modem and it still does it. Could it be the ISP?

Would anyone have any other ideas I could try?

Thanks,
Aaron

How long has it been doing that? Does it do it on more than one computer?

Sounds like your DNS servers are down or having problems. But that should only last for a few days at most. Try using the OpenDNS servers to see if that fixes the problem

Preferred DNS server address for Open DNS is:

* 208.67.222.222

Alternate DNS server address for Open DNS is:

* 208.67.220.220

It has been like it for about a week now.

Changing the DNS servers didn't work.

Any more ideas?

Thanks,
Aaron

Have you tried more than one computer? If so, it sounds like you need to contact your ISP.

Do you have the same problem in firefox and IE7? Can you ping yahoo or ebuyer?

I have tried it on 2 desktops and a laptop and they all do it. Have also tried firefox and exactly the same.

I know other people with the same ISP and they have no problems.

Have you tried disabling your IE add-ons?

Hi Azz,

In my opinion the problem is in your router settings. I certain routers there a options to block urls/domain. i think someone had entered those two url u mention into block list. if this doesnt work reset your router settings.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. It does it when directly plugged into the modem.

Check the Hosts file hasn't been compromised and check for any rogue BHOs. You may need to adjust the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) - 1492 is the norm but I have had to set machines down as low as 1400 MTU where they've suffered from similar problems.

At the command prompt, type "ipconfig /flushdns".
