Governor Jennifer Granholm actually started a helpful program in Michigan. Its called the 'No Worker Left Behind' Basically if you make under $40,000/ year the state will give you $5000 for certifications or college assistants. Now the individual MichWorks offices have different qualifications so depending on what office you goto they can choose to deny your acceptance into the program.
I'm going in for orientation on 10/7/08 I am going to try and get in to take the new horizons training course for CCNA. New Horizons is to exspensive to go through their MCSE training and I already have my A+ so I figured the CCNA would be the next best thing to have.
Normally I wouldn't make the income requirement, but the wife stopped working as she just had our baby 2 weeks ago, so its only me working. I'm not sure if they have this in any other state, but if you are in MI and want to read more check it out at http://www.michigan.gov/nwlb
