Bryce,
Have you considered a separate forum for suggestions / questions on USB tools?
It doesn't seem to fit well withing the current structure.

Ill second that... sounds like a great idea! Much easier than reposts!

I second that as well. What I think would be a great idea is if the technibble site could host dynamic lists for the different things users are repeatedly requesting in the forums. This lists could be the following:
USB Tool Kit
Parts to take with you to a job
Hardware/Physical tool kit to take
Best combination of software to use to remove a virus/adware
Users could vote to either update or remove items from the list. This way, all conversations are kept to the one thread and a reliable list is provided that is up to date.
Anyone else like the idea of this?

I agree Steven, Ill create a forum for it.

that's nice! USB is a commonly used interfaced so gotta have a lot of subjects about it.
Let see how well USB3.0 can do other than USB2.0.

Can't wait till USB 3.0 becomes the standard. USB 2.0 is great, but it lacks on transfer time for heaps of small files ecspecially.

In the meantime, our new laptops at work come with eSATA ports. I know what your thinking! Its not work getting an eSATA portable drive for my kit. Well maybe it is! And if you do, why not stay universal... check this out!

I saw that little bugger on the catalogue they send out that I read on the crapper. Interesting, especially since I spent $70 on my 16gb flash a while back. Though I would want something that write protects with computer repair.

I enjoyed my pc world mag until they decided to go digital. I'm not hauling my frickin' tower and monitor in there to take a crap. Maybe I should just setup a server with a tv dinner tray???

im planning on putting most of my utility software on usb drives as cd's are kinda old. of course you can't run the ubcd with a usb so looks like i'll still have to carry those cds around with me in my kit.

As a few others have suggested on other threads, it is good to have a copy of your toolkit on USB and CD/DVD just incase computer is infected and tries to delete files on your USB drive automatically without you knowing; unless you have write-protected USB flash drives.
Oh and about UBCD on USB.. yeah its possible ;) Google it my friend, and you shall see

not yet, but UBCD4Win can be built on Vista. All it needs is an XP Source folder... so it does not have the Vista kernel and look! You need to turn off UAC for it to work though.
Probably not the answer you were looking for, but you can at least build your disks on the Vista platform!
