View Full Version : [Want To Buy] iBook G4 airport card

I've inherited an iBook G4 which is still a going concern and I want to give it to my youngest daughter.
If anyone has an airport card surplus to requirements I'd be happy to hear from you.

Airport extreme or original airport card? What are the specs of the machine?

933 MHz Power PC G4, 384MB OSX 10.3.9
Does that tell you anything?
My knowledge of Macs is sadly lacking.
The socket is under the kb, has a single aerial connector and is roughly 47mm (1.8") wide. The notch looks to be in the centre of the socket.
It's an old beast but adequate for her use.

I don't have one, but I do know that it will take an airport extreme card. iBooks switched over starting with G4. Previously to that they could take airport or a very limited selection of PCMIA cards.

You might also want to upgrade the ram - I'm 99% sure it takes standard laptop pc-2700 ram, for a max of 640. If you can pick up a 512 stick cheap enough it's fairy easy to install. It's under the shield where the airport card goes.

Thanks for the info.
I'm pretty sure (although I'm almost loath to admit it) that I have some PC 2700 in a static bag somewhere in the workshop.
Thanks for the pointer RE airport card type, I'm sure it can't be too hard to find one now I have the right info.
