I have a computer that i reloaded XP. I formatted the drive and installed a fresh copy. When i boot into windows, it now asks which OS i want to load and both options are Windows XP pro. Anyone know how i can get rid of this screen as it only has one OS?

When you get into windows edit the boot.ini file to remove the second entry.

See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/289022 for instructions

Thanks very much. That took care of it.

if you get msconfig up, you can click the tab "boot.ini" and hit the "check all boot paths" checkbox. its faster.

I'll remember that for next time. Thanks for the tip.

Hi;

Is there a quick way to "check all boot paths" on vista the button in msconfig is gone. :mad: (or is it a case of "good things don't last forever")

Thanks

It's Microsoft we're talking about. Good things are removed or made kludgy and bad things last and occasionally get improved.

That being said, God Bless Microsoft. How many of us would really have jobs if the world ran on Mac & Linux?
