best free linux email server software

Hi my work are currently using scalix but I am looking a replacing it with a free alternative any suggestions would be great

I worked at a large local ISP for 16 years, and used Postfix for email. It's a more secure version of Sendmail, the original #1 choice for SMTP on Linux.

Exim is another choice, but the logfiles aren't as clear and concise as Postfix in my opinion.

I should have looked at Scalix before I replied earlier. Looks like Scalix also handles Calendaring?

If you need something that handles calendaring as well, the only choice really in Zimbra Open Source Edition.

Sendmail is fine... it is what I would use.
