As silly as it sounds apple is replacing TONS of these for free due to the class action suite against nvidia. They don't have to do it but they feel they should. I just got one replaced the other day (it was for an a1226) brought it in in the morning explained I had heard about the recall, they checked it over, told me they would honor it, and end of day it was running like a champ. My cost: $0 client was very happy

The model he is looking for is not covered by the NVidia suite. The cheapest option for a logic board replacement is to get it to an AASP and have it mailed into the repair depot. that will be the absolute cheapest way to get a new logic board out of warranty. But if the machine has been dropped or exposed to liquid, the price goes up substantially.

A company down the street from me replaces/repairs just about all Apple logic boards. MicroReplay.com
