Unfortunately I had Spyware Quake on my own computer, and did not come across this article before I removed it. However I did find the manually remove instructions on this website helpful: http://www.anti-spyware-101.com/remove-spywarequake/

If anybody is stuck with this parasite on their computer, don't hesitate to contact me, I got it off my system and would be glad to try to help.

My apologies, that was my fault. We recently did some major changes to this website and it seems the download links got broken. Its been fixed now and those links now work. Sorry again.

Seems to be a new variant of the Myzor infection. However I really need to sleep right now. Give me about 12 - 16 hours and I will have a way to remove it for you.

Goto Start > Control Panel and choose "Add/Remove Programs". This will bring up a list of the programs you have installed. Is "MalwareWipe" in the list?

Im really glad this fixed your problem. Since we are a very new site it would be great if you could spread the word of this place :)

As for avoid these types of problems, it is most likely you downloaded a fake "free antispyware program". There are a bunch of rogue anti-spyware applications which actually cause the problem and then send you popups asking you to buy the full version. Stick with the well known products such as "Ad-Aware" and "Spybot Search and Destroy" and get them from the offical websites.

As for avoiding adware/spyware in general these articles may help:

Hi sorry to bother you again but I appear to have a virus. I ran AVG and it says I have 8 infected files. The virus is called Trojan horse downloader Zlob COA or CML or CLS. AVG says it is in c:\system volume information\_restore. When I tried to find the file I was denied access..I put the virus in the virus vault but AVG says it can't heal it. Can you help
Thankyou

Spyware Quake is a new fake anti-spyware program. Once it is installed it creates fake popup messages designed to fool users into paying for a commercial version of the program. Here are the removal instructions for SpywareQuake.
