Slipstreaming, basically, means to update your Windows install disk (2000, XP, 2003, Vista, etc) to a new service pack.

Let's say you have a Service Pack 1 disk. Every time you use it, the machine you install on will be XP SP1.

If you slipstream Service Pack 3 into it and install XP on a computer, that computer will now be up to date with XP SP3.

If you've got an original XP disk (XP Service Pack 0, basically), slipstream it to SP1, *THEN* SP3. This lets you skip entering a product key during installation (you have 30 days to enter a key and activate windows)

-----------------------------------

COA refers to Certificate of Authenticity. Basically, it's either the little sticker on the outside of a case that says the XP key or the little pamphlet that came with retail XP.

When you reinstall a computer, you need their XP CD Key. The preferred way to do it is to either get it off of the case or from the retail pamphlet (little piece of thin cardboard that holds the CD, it folds out, the key is on the back).

You don't necessarily need the physical COA to do a reinstall, but it's nice to have. You can use a keyfinder program (such as Magical Jellybean http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/) to find out what key their machine was installed with.
