View Full Version : Custom Google Search Homepage

Hi Guys!

Not sure if this should go in advertising or here. Here sort of made more sense.

Anyway. About 99.9% of the time, people I ask want "google.com" as there home page, which I happily set for them.

I have always noticed that firefox's homepage has the google search bar and I always wondered if one could make their own, ie: simply add your own business logo instead.

I looked around but could only find resources that add google search to search your own site. I don't want it to search my site, it should still work like google but with my business logo somewhere.

Just an idea, not sure if it's possible or even legal. Any ideas?

Preferably keep the google logo and search bar as is on the original, and just add the business logo somewhere.

This would probably mean creating a new page on my site, then adding in the google bit with my logo somewhere.

Then instead of setting the homepage to google on the client side, it would be set to the page on my site with the google facility and my business logo somewhere.

I can create the page. I just don't know how to add the google search facility. Also I don't know if it conflicts with any terms and conditions.

While tacky, it does demonstrate that the existing Google "custom seach engine" can be modified. Not sure how they're doing it but they definitely are.

I started doing this a long time ago.

It makes me a few bucks a month to by using Google search adsence.

I plan to revamp it soon because the alignment is off with some resolutions.

Yea, that is close to what I had in mind. I just wanted it to have the logo and google search.

Is that the site search or the main google search you got there?
