What are your best practices for a cx who can't get online and you try to do remote support?

Hi James, depending on the reason why they cannot get internet access, I usually first try safe mode with networking. If that fails, then its a power down of the router, check the lights etc, and take it from there. If needed I also call their ISP; and do a call out. This is rarely the case though.
