How do I fix my video controller if it cannot reinstall itself?

My Vga compatible (video controller) is broken and it will not reinstall itself or get updates. Also my graphic card cd installation says cannot find compatible hardware. I cannot find any programs to fix it and microsoft is no help right now. Is there anyway to fix it?:confused:

What is broken about it? I assume you are getting some kind of picture because you are able to run your CD.
