Unknown Device

Alright I've been borrowing my friends external HD to get some music and stuff back off of it for my new pc, but it wont work. Says "Unknown Device" and I've checked around for drivers but i cant find anything. Any suggestions?

Whats the Device? Model Number?

See if Aida32 can determine what it is, look at THIS (http://www.technibble.com/how-to-stop-jumpy-choppy-scrolling-in-applications-such-as-internet-explorer/) article and follow the "Knowing what drivers you need" section.

Also ask your friend if the thing came with a cd that you need to install on your comoputer before you can use it.

Or, if he is unable to find it or get it to you. I came across a similar problem on a repair job just yesterday. Right click on My Computer and goto Manage. Then goto Disk Management. Does it show up there? does it say that the drive is uninitialized or unrecongised?
