I have been trying to reload my system with Windows XP. However each time I try to do so, right after it finish copying the necessary installation files and reboots, it gives a message that says "C:\Windows\system\netoskern.exe is missing or corrupt". I am not too sure that I spelt the name of the file correctly but I know it is net something.
Can someone help me with this problem. I NEED my machine.
Thanks

You probably meant ntoskrnl.exe?
If it's a fresh installation of Windows, formatted and everything, then you have a hardware problem. Try running a diagnostic tool like Memtest86+ or download the Ultimate Boot CD (ubcd) and run a hard drive diagnostic test (something like drive fitness test).
I'm guessing that one of the two components will fail testing.
I've never ran into that exact error before, but you might want to check your installation media. I've had a scratched disk cause problems during, and even after the installation. Try replacing the file with one from a known good CD.

Indeed, I've also had this occur when the optical drive had a dirty read eye. Try blowing it out with some compressed air, or better yet cleaning it with a Q-Tip or something if you can get to it.

Make sure the hard drive you have installed windows to is the first hard drive in the "boot priority" list in the BIOS. Usually you will get a different error if this is the case, but it could be worth checking.
