have you tried these steps?
Uninstall both the wifi driver and Itunes put Itunes back on then install the wifi driver.
Also which O/S are you using and which Service pack?

Hey mate, there is a diagnostic tool under the help menu in itunes. This does a test on network connectivity. Run this through first and let us know how you got on.

Lets start with the obvious...
What antivirus are you using?
If you are using Norton, that could be the problem.
are you using an after market firewall?
hmm hate to offer this as a possible problem but figured it might help! It seems that both the HP Pavilion 6000 and 9000 series of notebooks have a serious as of yet unfixed flaw on some of their wireless cards from intel.
Does the problem occur when you plug your computer directly into the router and disable the wireless?
If not, I would suggest you try another wireless adapter, as your intel adapter might be the problem.
