I am just curious to see how everyone goes about fixing a bad partition table?

I use Partition Table Doctor 3.5 works pretty good for me only thing that sucks is thats its pay software witch i tend to avoid after finding great sites like this :D

I have partition table doctor 3.5 however the software did not even pick up the drive when I ran it. I used Partition Magic and once the software ran it said the partition table was bad.

I use the Recovery option on the Windows XP disc. Boot up and select the Recovery Console and run a checkdisc.

I second this. Partition Table Doctor is by far the best tool for this. If it doesnt see your drive in its own bootable environment you can actually get it working in windows PE. So you can make a bootable windows environment that has support for most drives/controllers and include it in there. Works great.
