One of the first things anybody running their own business gets is the business card. I am designing one now and was wondering if everyone would post theirs so I could get some good design ideas from mine. Black out whatever you want but lets see those cards! :)

MHCG, I love your card. Clean, to the point, and fun. Also, your website is great! Extends your card perfectly. you've got a very good thing going! Does it cost you anything for the merchant account with paypal to accept credit cards?

It doesn't cost me anything. 1.9 to 2.6% plus 30 cents per transaction. No monthly fee's or anything. You pay per transaction.

Yeah, it doesn't cost anything. It doesn't get used much though, only once in fact. I have a merchant account that I use because the fees are less.

I forgot to post the back of mine. It says....

Remove spyware & viruses
Protect your data
Set up file and printer sharing
Secure your wireless network
Install upgrades to your computer
Repair unusual slowness
Program your VCR
Any other crazy stuff that you don't think anybody will know how to do.

You seriously get people that ask you to program their VCR?

My last two business card designs. They're just standard templates from an online printers. I was hooked on the idea of a mini calendar on the back of them :p

Thanks TechnoKelvin.

i2omani I used publisher and got vistaprint to print them. Their prices are good but delivery took 3 weeks.

Nice card I would recommend changing the price on your remote support to be a bit more inline with your off site rate tho.

I'm in the process of redesigning my cards because of some staff changes and restructuring.
Here's one design I came up with tonight that I'm thinking of using.
Basically, the "cracked" lcd will peel off to reveal contact information on a "fixed" screen. On the back side of the cracked screen card that's removed, it'll say something like "Refer a friend and you'll both recieve $10 off your next service. Referred by: ____________" and then have a business name and phone number. This is just a mock-up that I threw together, so it looks a little sloppy, but if it's not too expensive to have printed, it'll be glossy and look more like an actual laptop.

If I use this card, I'm going to end up paying more per card, of course....but with each card I'm potentially getting two customers

Here's my card, recently designed. I'd like to give a plug to overnightprints.com as well for the great service they have provided for me. I printed a run of these with them and also with vista print and had to throw away all the vista print cards. Overnightprints' cards are top quality and I'm not paid in any way to say so.

Hello everyone...

I am new to this website... but I will be reading it EVERYDAY. I really enjoy all the different points of view and I am realizing very quickly that I suffer from the problem of undercharging for my services.

Here are my business cards... Let me know what you think.

Hope everyone is doing well... and I look forward to meeting everyone... contributing and learning... not necessarily in that order ;)

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Mark

looks like this thread is getting a bit old. i really liked 14049752's fun idea using the broken laptops. i may have to pinch that idea for some kind of promo thing one day.

anyway, here's my late entry. (this is slightly brighter than the printed version due to vistaprints printing system.)

Nice cards. I'm not sure why people are blurring out names and numbers since they are on your website in your link anyways.

Here's mine that I made. I did notice VistaPrint makes them darker than the original. I'm still happy with them.

nudone,
I have to ask.... any connection to CCCP? Your business card looks like it should have a hammer and sickle on it. :D (I have no problems with that, btw...just asking.)

nudone
03-18-2009, 09:00 PM
heheh, well spotted. it is inspired by the whole soviet old CCCP initials. as for the hammer and sickle, i've already got it covered - i'll be using my "screwdriver and mouse" logo on a few promo items. (note how it's, essentially, the same silhouette as the ol' hammer and sickle.)

i know the design will be lost on a lot of young people, but us old timers should get it (well, maybe).

p.s.
thanks for the comments, vontriego, i think your doctor looks cool and funky. nice colours too.

Really wasn't that hard to spot...I just didn't know if it was something I should ask....
I am curious, though....do you worry that there might be a negative association in using that theme?

you make a good point - but the only people (two of them, including yourself) i've had comment on the CCCP/PCCC idea are from the US. forgive me if i've wrongly assumed were you are.

i'm in the UK and i've not had any negative reaction so far (perhaps people have kept their thoughts silent). the design seems to be taken more as just a 'design' aspect here - the philoshophy or political historical references don't seem to register.

personally, CCCP is an iconic image from my childhood, mainly from the space race - that's why i went with it, plus, the letters are handy to play with. i believe CCCP is still an iconic design today and the colours or very striking - so that kind of covers it. i'm not advocating socialism in any form - though, under our current climate we might soon see it rise again. maybe i can jump on the bandwagon when it arrives.

Yeah, I'm in the U.S. I realize our propaganda machine may have programmed all of us to think "Bad" about any of that. I can't really say, because I'm actually too young to really have much of an opinion on that stuff...I born at the end of that era....and had a sheltered childhood. :D

It was more of a curiousity if it came up at all, or if you ever had anyone bring it up. I think it's a very memorable color scheme and easy enough to rember, though.

nudone
03-18-2009, 09:49 PM
well, i may well yet live to regret it. perhaps if i'd based the design on the French tricolore i'd be getting more of a stern reaction from my locals - i don't think anyone here really cares about the soviet block, as long as they keep pumping gas into our homes we're happy - and if they don't, then we'll all just start moaning about it over a nice cup of tea whilst we freeze to death.
