Hi guys,

sorry I haven't posted in a while, was feeling a bit burnt out,
and then spent 5 hours driving up to and back from Belfast over the weekend.

Anyway, my bday is coming up, and I'm being given a nice gift,
so I thought, a new monitor would be lovely!

I know links to products are boring, but if you could take a peek and advise me, I would love that.

Which one would you guys go for? I heard the 226 is the pick of the bunch, not sure which one.

I have the Samsung 206 and my friend has the Samsung 226. They are both really nice monitors and well worth the price. I have had mine for 6 months and still love it a lot.

But my dad has the Dell SP2208wfp and man that is a really nice monitor. It just came out not too long ago and was actually only in Japan but it is now available here. That dell is also a really great monitor and I would recommend it over the Samsung but don't get me wrong the Samsung monitors are really nice too.

Not a bad price either, and a webcam built in too.
So you'd go for the Dell over the Samsung yeah?

I haven't been to impressed over the Samsung brand, I do way to many printer calls for them on equipment only 2-6 months old. I would choose the Dell.

Contrast Ratio! If I were you, I would go to a local store and look at the difference between an LCD with 700:1 contrast ratio, and one with 2500:1 CR. The difference is AMAZING, and the price difference between the two would usually be around $50. 700:1 will usually give a great picture, but the colors/lighting look more "flat" than one with higher CR. Most of the "glossy" looking LCDs have higher contrast ratio, and the colors are more brilliant.
